Dr. R J Solomon completed graduation from Spicer Memorial College, Pune and MA in from Pune University. He joined Sir J J Hospital, Mumbai and worked as Clinical Psychologist for 4 years before accepting teaching assignment at K B P College (Modern College) Vashi in 1990.

Dr. Solomon completed Masters in Population Sciences at International Institute for Population Sciences at Mumbai after which he received the US government’s exchange visitor award to receive training in research on young people at East West Center, University of Hawaii, Honolulu. In 2007 with University Grants Commission’s Teacher Fellowship Dr. Solomon completed Ph.D at International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai. In 2010-2011 he was awarded Australian Government’s Endeavour Research Fellowship and completed Post-Doctoral Research at Deakin University, Melbourne.

He was also awarded a prestigious "Large Research Grant" from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to implement the Indian arm of the “International Youth Development Study (IYDS)”. The International Youth Development Study is widely used internationally for planning prevention services for children and young people. The study monitors the healthy development of children and adolescents and contributes to advancing educational progress, mental health promotion, chronic disease prevention and planning to encourage positive behaviors such as volunteering, civic engagement and conservation behaviors. The study also investigates the major trends and modifiable influences affecting the healthy development of children and adolescents. The IYDS is a cross national and longitudinal study conducted in US, Australia and India. In India the study covers 4,770 students across 125 schools in the grade level 5, 7 and 9 in the areas of Navi Mumbai and greater Mumbai.

This study is conducted in collaboration with major international prevention science centers - the Social Development Research Group at the University of Washington, Seattle and the Centre for Adolescent Health at the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Solomon visited USA, Australia and Europe and made presentation of India IYDS Study at several Universities including University of Melbourne, Deakin University Australia, Loma Linda University and La Sierra University, California and University of Washington at Seattle. The IYDS study was also presented at several international conferences including in USA, Australia, Korea and Thailand.

Dr. Solomon is also Secretary of Indian School Psychology Association and President of Indian Association of Life Skills Education. Dr. Solomon has received Endeavour Executive Fellowship for professional development from Australian government and completed it at Deakin University Australia. Dr Solomon has received “Star Achiever Award from Deakin University, Australia 2014 and in 2015 an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Education and Public Service from Bond University Australia. He is appointed as Australian Awards Ambassador by Australian High Commission in India. Dr. Solomon has over 50 research papers presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Solomon is currently working as Senior Research Fellow for Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) New Delhi, and is placed at K B P College, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
