Dr. Asish Deshpande is a well-known Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist. A Life Fellow of Indian Psychiatric Society, he is currently the President of Bombay Psychiatric Society and has been associated with the Directorate of Mental Health, State Government of Maharashtra, in various committees. He has been working in the field of School Mental Health, De-addiction, Gender Sensitization and Age Awareness at various levels.

Dr. Deshpande is a recipient of Bombay Community Public Trust Scholarship, Hinduja Foundation Scholarship, Indian Association of Retired Person’s Scholarship, Ya. Di. Phadke Scholarship for Social Issues.

Dr. Deshpande takes great interest in “familiarizing the world with mental health” by using the print and the electronic media, with him being selected in Satyameva Jayate, an Aamir Khan production show, in the episode on Alcoholism has widened hisw familiarity with the people all over India.

He has been invited to read his research papers by International Federation of Ageing, International Conference on Male Ageing and “The Three Speakers’ Meet” at the World Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Dr. Deshpande has authored the “Policy Statement for Welfare of Senior Citizen’s in Goa”, “A Beautiful Mind- Developmental Theory Based School Counseling Program”, “Minimum Standard of Care for Seniors in Old Age Homes” and “Alcohol - Basic Information”. He is currently associated with Knowledge Square, an educational initiative and Anmol Jeevan, a de-addiction initiative.

His good teaching skills, oratory skills and liking for subject finds him invited at various corporate training programs, Larson and Toubro being one of them. Mumbai police, Association of headmasters of Mumbai schools, college teachers, parent teachers associations, cultural organizations in and around Mumbai regularly arrange his interactions. He has been involved in mental health awareness programs at various levels. With more than 50 news paper opens, more than 100 TV appearances in ‘phone-in-programs’, many news discussions he has been a known face in Maharashtra.
