A strong proponent of nurturing the uniqueness of every child, with her immense passion and commitment, has contributed positively to the field of Learning, Student Development, and Quality in Education.

Ms. Melissa Maria is a Master of Arts - History with a scholarship from the Mumbai University and the Bombay Catholic Sabha, for being a topper in the state of Maharashtra. She possesses Bachelors in Education and pursued an Educational Leadership Programme from the Centre for Education Management and Development, New Delhi India as well as an Educational Management programme from SNDT College Mumbai – India.

Ms Melissa has over 24 years’ experience in the field of education and administration in reputed schools in Mumbai, Oman and Singapore. She has been responsible for the qualitative learning of the students, professional growth of teachers and staff, besides working towards Academic Excellence and Quality in Education. Her zest for nurturing her teams towards Green Initiatives and Innovation has led to several recognitions for the schools she leads. She has actively pursued community integration activities and outreach towards the less fortunate human beings in society.

Her commitment is to ensure that students and staff remain current and relevant and are prepared for the 21st century. This goal has led to introduction of several new programmes and activities in the schools which have been recognized at national and international levels as awards and recognitions to the school.

There are several projects mentored by Ms Melissa that have gained recognition and they include Singapore Kindness Movement: Friend of Singa Gold Award; National Environment Council of Singapore: Sustained Lotus and Daisy Awards; Restroom Association of Singapore: LOO and Gold STAR Awards; Community in Bloom, Nparks Singapore: Gold Award and World Edu- league, Singapore: Green Carpet Award. To encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in students she encouraged the setting up of a cooperative club in the school in collaboration with the Singapore National Cooperative Federation.

Charities supported through the schools that Ms Melissa leads include Sree Narayana Mission, Singapore , Loving Hearts Multi- Service Centre, Singapore and Food Bank Singapore.

National and International recognitions to the school that Ms. Melissa leads for Education Excellence under the mentorship of the Director of the Global Centre for Education Excellence, Mr. B.G. Shenoy include Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award- India in the national and International Categories; Singapore Quality Class – Star , Spring Singapore; Institute of Directors Awards, India; Global Performance Excellence Awards- Asia Pacific Quality Organization and Global Benchmarking Network – 4th Benchmarking Award.

Ms Melissa has held positions as Management Representative for Edu trust: Global Indian International School, Singapore under the Committee of Private Education, Singapore; Certified Examiner and Lead Assessor for Quality Management by Indian Merchant’s Chamber – India; Certified Assessor for Spring Singapore and Service Excellence Medallion; Academic Auditor for Global Indian International School; Certified Lead Auditor for OHSAS ( Occupational Health and Safety Management System 18001); Certified ISO internal Auditor; Project lead for Innovation in teaching, learning, Enhancing Innovation, and Entrepreneurship skills in students – Global Indian International schools in the Foundation; Teacher trainer and mentor for schools in the foundation.

She has received several personal recognitions including Best Principal – International Zone from Science Olympiad Foundation and Certificate of Excellence – IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj Quality Trust.

She has presented papers at Quality Conferences such as Best Practice sharing competition: Winner in the overseas category, India; Global Benchmarking Network, top 4 finalist, Dubai; Quality Circle Competition Certificate of Achievement, Malaysia and the APQO ACE Team Award at Rotorua, New Zealand.

She has other meaningful contributions that include Developing Curriculum Value Add Programmes; Developing Curriculum for Kindergarten with focus on Multiple Intelligences and Play; Developed concept of Computing Happiness Index for Sustained Learning; Quality Circle presentation and other tools of Quality training for teachers and students; Green Initiatives towards conservation and sustainability in schools; and Enhancing the Innovation Centre with a Creativity Curriculum for students.

Ms Melissa has a deep interest in Organic farming, travelling, and psychology.
